What are the origins of this ghost girl story?

I've heard there was a story about a beautiful woman who died. Her spirit lives on. Her spirit appears on roads, luring men. When the man has been affectionte, she either turns to a skeleton, mutilated, or disapears. I've heard this story happen in Europe I think. And there was a Youtube vid about it. Also, I heard this story occuring in Peru. My mom explained spirits channel their spirity to differrent parts of the world. ..idk..Anyone know the origins to this storyv
